Wood has always been a key component in Leggett & Platt's many products. For over fifteen years, the company has obtained much of the raw material for its wood products from Canada. Canadian spruce and sister species provide the smaller logs, tighter grain, dense fiber content and smaller knots necessary to produce the narrow boards used in our value added product mix.

LeggettWood also believes that responsible use and development of natural resources requires a strong commitment to preservation and renewal. That means respecting all U.S. and Canadian environmental conservation laws and working to avoid waste. LeggettWood mills convert any below grade or substandard wood byproducts into usable materials such as wood chips and bagged shavings. Anything that cannot be turned into a marketable product is recycled into kiln fuel. Nothing goes to waste.
